Clean and comfortable
The room was very clean, super comfortable and had great amenities. Good air conditioning.
Breakfast is an area that can be improved. All the food is cold, they need heat lamps. Great selection of food available.
As our 2nd Air bnb was also a disaster, we booked a further 5 nights stay. This time a city view on 15th floor. Booked for breakfast one day, as manager mis communicated the price. He told us a price for 2 people but it turned out to be per person.
Close to places to visit and they have a free shuttle so you don't have to cross the road

The location is ok, walking distance around 10-15mins to Jonker Walk night market. the hotel provides free shuttle to the clock tower (Opposite will be Jonker walk) for every 2 hours till 2200hrs daily, and we can Whatapps concierge in case we need to communicate with the hotel which is very good, and they are very helpful to provide a lot tourist information to us.
The size of the hotel room is spacious. it just looks a bit ordinary for the inner design. The temperature is comfortable during sleep at night. Bfast is very so and so, and on the 1st day, we went down to the cafe around 0945 (which they closed at 1030). Everything looked almost finished, and the staff did not replenish the food. The hot dish was not hot enough, while the cold dish like the ham didn't put on top of the ice to make sure the temperature was safe to eat.
On the last day of departure, the hotel started construction work (KEEP DRILLING) from 10ish in the morning, but I didnt see any notice posted out in the lift or letter sent to the room to inform the guest. As my mom falled sick those day, and I tried to call the operator and request them to delay a bit the drilling time like drilling after 1230hrs, at least most of the guest check-out first) but the operator was VERY RUDE and said it's already 1200 (in fact that was 11ish not till Check-out time yet) and said they can do nothing to stop it.....sucks....

Spacious room, tad dated.
However, room smelt extremely damp. You needed a key card to activate the air con. Two to the bath room lights blew during our 3d2n stay. Room was otherwise spacious with good city view. You can jaywalk to the city Centre (non handicap friendly) or have to take a cab everywhere else.
Breakfast food quality good, but immensely crowded. Staff were working very hard to clear what they could. Waits for elevators could take forever.
On my last day of stay, around 930 am on 29th Dec, I went to ask for an additional key card (we were only initially issued 2 cards for a triple room). The slender lady who was not Ria, issued an extra card with multiple unprompted warnings to return “all 3 cards when checking out or a fee”. Why was this conveyed to a guest merely asking for an additional card ? Moreover asked for activation of key card for the check out for an hour which was granted earlier on phone. Lady kept harping on “not even a minute after 1pm”. And “must be before 1pm”. Entire experience left a sour taste. This is an IHG hotel, not some budget hotel where you staff starts harping on costs to guests who have not even infringed anything.

A hotel which is in need of a shake up
The room I booked was the King Suite. First of all, for a multi-room suite, I was disappointed to find only 1 TV in the bedroom. The living room did not have a TV. Also, there was a smell of glue and varnish in the room from recent supposed renovations.
Speaking to the reception, it was clear that the room was supposed to have another TV but for some reason, it wasn't installed "due to ongoing renovations work". Right.
The chairs and sofa were stained, and the carpet showed some detritus from apparent refurbishment activity.
Next up was the keycards. For 2 whole days, the keycards were malfunctioning. I must have gone to the lobby to refresh my keycards at least 10 times as the cards wouldn't work on my room door.
I had finally gotten fed up and demanded new keycards, which finally worked as they should.
Another huge disappointment was the call concierge. I had wanted to call for room service over the 3 days of stay and with the sole exception of the first call which was placed within 1 hour of arrival, none of the calls I placed were ever answered. It was as though no one was manning the phone system.
Over one of the evenings, I had some friends and family drop by for drinks at the lobby bar. Out of 6 drinks ordered, 4 drinks were delivered wrong.
The last straw of course was the fact that it started to leak water from the bathroom ceiling. This happened on my last night here. By now I am thoroughly disgusted with my stay experience.
I have always enjoyed my stays here, but this trip around, I am very disappointed. Melaka has many other hotels. I think it may be time for me to find another hotel to take my business to from now on.
The only saving grace I can think of was the fact that most of the service staff were polite and generally helpful.
