Fab hotel… the area slightly less so…but happy to recommend
Meals were a little bit on the pricey side but not extortionate (breakfast for two was just under $40 and an evening meal (2 drinks, two mains, 2 desserts) cost $110) but the food was very nice).
We went a Walgreens and bought a case of bottled water, some milk and cereal for the week which helped cut down on costs. We also found a convenience store a minutes walk from the station which sells cheap, chilled beer. ($2 per bottle vs $9+ per bottle in the hotel bar).
The biggest drawback of the hotel is the neighbourhood…. It’s a 15 minute walk to the nearest Subway (21st Street - Queensbridge….where the’F’ line takes you straight to Roosevelt Island, Herald Square or Rockefeller etc) but it’s not the nicest area. A little shady.
Uber works and is an easy way to get around from station to hotel if it’s late at night or to other local areas and eateries (Astoria, Steinway, Long Island) as there aren’t many restaurants in walking distance. GrubHub and Uber Eats do deliver to the hotel and there is a microwave in the hotel foyer if that helps.
For us, staying any closer to the center of NYC would have rendered the trip unaffordable and we actually almost ended up liking the contrast between the ‘paved with gold’ streets of Broadway and Tiffanys and Bloomingdale to the more urban areas with local people where the hotel is. It’s all part of the experience.
For somewhere clean and comfortable to stay during a trip exploring amazing NYC it certainly did the trick and we had a really great time and the subway links were great, just not the walk to and from. That was literally the only drawback but there are ways around it.

Do not include breakfast during your stay
However, on the morning of our stay, we were extremely disappointed to find that the breakfast area was not open at 7 am as it was supposed to be. We were informed by the hotel staff that they were not ready yet and the breakfast was not served until 7:30. Unfortunately, we had to leave for our scheduled appointment and were unable to have breakfast.
I had brought this issue to the attention of the front desk twice during our stay, but there was no response from the management regarding this matter. As a paying customer, I am disappointed with the lack of concern and follow-up on this issue.
I think this is likely to happen because the restaurant is 3rd party and nothing to do with the hotel, so the hotel does not care about this even though they have a breakfast-included package on their website.

Reasonable price, clean, business option.
The hotel restaurant was basically a slight upgrade from Holiday Inn Express fare but a similar buffet.
Ate dinner in the hotel one night and was very pleased. I highly recommend Amici Amore. I had the Lemon Chicken and it was excellent.
I'm familiar with LIC restaurant options. There are many good restaurants but you have to walk a few blocks. It is a safe area.
When Manhattan gets too pricey or when I have clients in Queens I stay in LIC.
I used to stay at the Manhattan View Holiday Inn at 39th and 29th about nine blocks north. That was one of my favorite hotels in NYC. It got turned into a shelter COVID. Oh well.
I was happy to pay for on-site parking where I was able to park and lock my car. We worry a bit leaving a car in a garage with car unlocked lately.
